Aside from the usual (hate them or love them) franchises, there are more and more independent coffee-shops emerging all over the city. Not all of them though, are idealistic for studying, more of us are looking to find work-friendly cafes where we can plough away on our laptops, nourished by satisfying food and caffeine. Where should we go? I say let's head over to Diligence Cafe :)
Your home won’t do: you can’t focus and there’s always stuff on Netflix you have to watch or maybe even be disciplined to work from home without falling into watching re-runs of Game of Thrones and taking naps in between. So the campus library will probably be another option on your list of places to study but they’re crowded though and they can get really noisy. Maybe libraries are a bit too old-fashioned for you, though, when you think of places to study in Manila, you’re thinking of somewhere that’s a little more social, where you can feel comfortable while revising.
If you’re in need of holing up with your laptop for a few hours, then this is a perfect place for you. They have a really good wi-fi coverage (unlimited wi-fi), plenty of study booths/ample table space and ample power sockets which makes it truly perfect place to study in Manila. The atmosphere is really relaxed, they play good music and the service is as friendly as you’ll find in the city. You'll seriously feel at ease getting out your laptop to study here. Plus, they also offer a napping service.
By the way, this is a serious cafĂ© for serious coffee drinkers, so first few sips of their free brewed coffee may shock your taste buds. But after a while, you’ll get to know what good coffee tastes like. (Best part? It's unlimited, yes coffee lovers you heard it right!) You may enjoy quality coffee in a peaceful atmosphere from lunch time until morning after dark.
They also offer free unlimited coffee and juice. And if energy levels drop and hunger strikes, fear not. You can also buy a sandwich, pasta or a cookie (there are plenty options to choose from) if you’re needing an affordable energy boost before you get back to your books.
They don't disappoint with the menu, let's talk about the budget friendly food and hearty cafe eats that they serve.
Chicken
Pesto Pasta. Fresh house made pasta with Chicken
tenders and Parmesan cheese on top. I have to say that it really comes out in full, al dente swing. And the
serving is just the right amount to keep you
craving more.
Arrabbiata
Pasta. My new favorite pasta dish. It was served less than 15 mins.
after we ordered it. The pasta was al dente and fresh hot. Made from garlic,
tomatoes (lots of it ♥) and basil cooked in olive oil and
sprinkled with grated Parmesan cheese on top. Oh, heaven on earth, it was
absolutely delicious!
I hope this helps your student life and revision over the
coming months. Best of luck with those essays and exams! YOU CAN DO IT!♥

My verdict is that if you want a spot where you can lounge, enjoy a quality cup
of coffee, spread some books over the table, hook your laptop and get down to
studying, my recommendation has to go to the Diligence Café. Definitely want to try more on the menu the next time we go back. With 2 branches in Metro Manila this is definitely geared
